Our Approach
At Kristine Ching OT Inc, we believe the best therapy happens when children feel safe, seen, and empowered. Our approach is:
Child-Led: Therapy follows your child’s interests, curiosity, and pace.
Parent-Directed: Families are partners, guiding goals and decisions every step of the way.
Relationship-Based: Building trust and connection is at the heart of every session.
Neurodiversity-Affirming: We honor each child’s unique way of experiencing the world.
Flexible & Accessible: Sessions can happen in our sensory clinic, at home, or in the community across San Diego.
We focus on helping children build skills, confidence, and independence in the spaces where they feel safest and most motivated to learn.
Evaluations
Initial evaluations are 1 - 2 hours and are designed to be flexible, child-led, and relationship-based. Time is used to support regulation, build rapport, observe play and participation, and understand each child’s unique strengths and support needs across environments.
Families may choose between the following documentation options:
Formal Evaluation Report
A comprehensive written report appropriate for funding sources, medical records, or school coordination. This may include standardized measures when appropriate and clinically meaningful narrative observations.Informal Summary Follow-Up
A strengths-based, narrative summary highlighting key observations, regulation supports, and practical recommendations for home, school, and daily routines.
Individualized OT
Occupational Therapy sessions focus on working towards goals that the therapist and family collaboratively set together. Sessions are 50 minutes in length, and involve the use of therapeutic approaches and activities.

Decode & Connect
Decode & Connect helps parents make sense of the often-overwhelming world of assessments, evaluations, and reports. We take the time to understand your child’s unique strengths, challenges, and needs, then translate that understanding into clear, practical guidance. Beyond interpretation, we provide individualized strategies and actionable next steps, helping you navigate services, therapies, and resources with confidence. From connecting you to the right specialists to supporting referrals and ongoing case management, our goal is to put the pieces together so your child—and your family—can thrive.
ND Affirming Groups
Join our ND social groups where we facilitate authentic, meaningful relationships and encourage exploring hobbies through movie nights, outings, cooking classes and ND led self defense classes.
We also provide Neurodiversity Affirming speaking engagements for parent groups, teacher workshops, and pediatric therapist meetings.
